#CovidCorridos Workshop
Students had a crash course on how to write a corrido in this virtual workshop. A corrido is a traditional, Mexican musical storytelling form typically about a tragic event or circumstance...such as a pandemic! Students shared their contemporary stories on how their families are dealing with the COVID pandemic; in addition to workshops on songwriting, audio editing software, and how to use social media.
Music + Math
Students learned to analyze the properties of audio signals from their own digitally recorded music files using MATLAB. OSU’s Dr. Cotilla-Sanchez introduced basic filtering techniques and demonstrated the math behind those filters - both in time and frequency domain.
Musical Greeting Card
Students will learn how to digitally record instruments and vocals to create original compositions using a cloud-based music and audio recording platform and output their creations to a simple sound module and create a musical greeting card.
Music Makes Sense
Students will be digitally recording their music and connecting those creations to a two-dimensional piece of artwork. This interactive audio/visual project will be constructed and displayed in the college's Fairbanks art gallery.
Note to Code
Students will be converting notes from their favorite Mariachi song to frequency and prototyping a digital music player using an Arduino 101 development board.
